Look Unto Jesus
Look only unto Jesus
And you will only see
Everything you’d ever want
And everything you’ll ever need
Some trust in chariots and horses, people, places, things
Skin tones and genders and nationalities
Blood lines, DNA, ancestor family tree
Look unto verse 28 of Galatians chapter 3
Bank accounts and businesses
Latest technology
Accomplishments, traditions, distinguished pedigree
Corporate ladders, statuses, Theology degrees
Look unto verse 8 of Philippians 3
When we look unto those earthly things
To satisfy our needs
To connect us, represent us
To fulfill our hopes and dreams
We can be let down
And even suffer from anxiety
True life is found in Christ alone
The King, the Hope of Glory
When our sins were washed away
So were all of those earthly needs
We died with Him, raised to new life
Seated in the Heavenlies
Who we were no longer lives
It’s Christ who lives in we
We aren’t related by the flesh
We have a brand new history
The blood of Christ has done the work
He is our only Peace
The barrier destroyed
Do we still have hostility?
Are we leaning on the things that just don’t matter in the end?
Do we need someone to look like us to truly call them friend?
Do we identify and find our worth in fleshly things that we can see?
Is this why Jesus died for us?
Oh no. Surely that can’t be.
He created in Himself
ONE new humanity
His fullness fills us now
Glorious Divinity
Let’s champion our Oneness
Cuz in Christ we’re family
Spirit, soul, and body
There’s only One, you see?
He broke the curse and gave us Grace
To live by, not the law
It’s perfected in our weakness
Just ask the Apostle Paul
United we will stand
But divided we will fall
Look only unto Jesus
He is our all in all
When we all look unto Him
We see what each other sees
Perspectives, understanding
All come into clarity
Relating to each other
Yeah it’s possible and simple
When we all look unto Him
Who rebuilt US to be His temple
Look only unto Jesus
Who brings us to unity
Who was before and is to come
And evermore will be
Christ died once for all
And so now we are truly free
To look only unto Jesus
Our One Reality
